Where did that come from?

Have you ever reacted to something, maybe a tone of voice, a moment of feeling criticised, or the sense that you had somehow disappointed someone, and the reaction inside you was so much bigger than the situation? Where something small sent you straight into anxiety, or into silence, or into working harder to fix it, to smooth it over, to make it right?

And some part of you wondered, where did that come from?

That response, that disproportionate reaction, that sudden smallness or urgency, is not the adult you. That is a much younger part of you, responding from an old memory of what love required. What safety required. What belonging required.

We call her your inner child. And she has been quietly shaping more of your life than you may realise, your relationships, your patterns, the way you love, the way you receive love, the way you feel about yourself when no one is watching.

If you're healing from divorce, separation, or betrayal, you may know this moment as the outsized fear that rises when a new partner goes quiet for a day. If your healing is from years of self-abandonment and people-pleasing, you may know it as the disproportionate guilt the instant you disappoint someone, or the yes that leaves your mouth before you've even decided.

She is a part of you that has been doing her absolute best, with very old information, to keep you safe. Every pattern she created made complete sense for the child who lived it. She deserves, more than anything, to be met with tenderness.

This is the work of Lesson One in The Sovereign Self-Love Journey, She Heals Her Inner Child. Meeting that younger part of you until she feels, perhaps for the first time in a very long time, truly seen. Truly loved. Truly belonging.

You are not broken, beautiful soul. You are becoming.

Release. Remember. Return.

Much love, Deanne x
